Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in LA Receives $25,000 Fine

Four months after Dennis and Kimberly Quaid's newborn twins were given an accidental overdose of heparin (a blood thinner), fines are officially being handed out. In the hospital, the babies were mistakenly given 1,000 times the prescribed dosage of the drug and luckily survived.
As a result of the mix-up, the California Department of Public Health decided to give Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles a $25,000 fine for health violations, according to AP reports. That sounds like nothing more than a slap on the wrist to me.

Courteney Cox & Celebrity Friends Raise Funds...

Courteney Cox and David Arquette have a challenge for their famous friends: help raise $1 million in two weeks for Epidermolysis Bullosa, a rare skin condition that primarily affects children.
Joining Cox and Arquette in the awareness- and money-raising effort are Jennifer Aniston, Orlando Bloom, Kate Beckinsale, Rashida Jones, James Marsden and Eva Longoria Parker. All will lend their famous faces and financial support to the Epidermolysis Bullosa Medical Research Foundation, where Cox, Arquette and Aniston serve on the honorary advisory board. (Brad Pitt, Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale are also members.)
"EB is very personal to me so I'm happy to be a part of this $1 million challenge," Cox said in a statement to The Associated Press. "Now is such an important time to put the spotlight on EB and ensure that research can continue at a fast pace."
Epidermolysis Bullosa is a debilitating genetic disorder that causes the skin to blister and break at the slightest touch. Victims are often covered in burn-like sores that never heal and most don't live beyond age 30.

Angelina Jolie, Brad Pitt give millions to charity

Hollywood power couple Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt donated more than eight million dollars to charity in 2007 according to tax records, it was reported on Friday.
Fox News reported on its website that the actors funneled more than four million dollars each to the Jolie Pitt Foundation, which was set up two years ago to aid humanitarian causes around the world.
According to federal tax records, the foundation handed out around 2.4 million dollars in donations in 2007, including one million dollars each to both Doctors without Borders and the Global AIDS Alliance.
Other cash gifts included 137,935 dollars to the Namibia Red Cross Action Program, the country where the couple's biological daughter Shiloh was born.
A donation of 100,000 dollars was also made to the Daniel Pearl Foundation, a trust set up to honor the former Wall Street Journal reporter murdered by Islamic extremists in Pakistan. Jolie played Pearl's widow Marianne in last year's acclaimed film "A Mighty Heart."
In addition, 20,000 dollars was donated to an art park in Los Angeles while two orphanages visited by Jolie received 5,000 dollars each.

Richest Young Celebrities - World's Richest Stars Under 25!!!

People magazine has put together it's list of the world's richest celebrity teens and it should be as interesting as ever.
Topping the list is actor Daniel Radcliffe, who is said to have earned a whopping $50 million paycheck for his work on the Harry Potter movies. At only 17, this guy is a force to be reckoned with in the movie industry.
Another young starlet making the richest teens cut is Julia Roberts' niece, Emma Roberts. The Nancy Drew star could fetch as much as $1 million for her next on screen venture. Not too shabby for a 16-year-old who can't even drive a car yet.
Making her mark in the world of music as well as movies is Hilary Duff, 19, who reportedly makes $2 million per film.
She told the magazine that she loves to splurge on watches, Marc Jacobs handbags, and lots of vacations. Let's hope that they remember to enjoy it now, because they're only young once.

TOP FIVE CELEBRITY HAIRSTYLES: Reese Witherspoon Tops The list!!!!

Who has the best celebrity hairstyle in all of Hollywood? The fashionable readers of InStyle.com cast their votes and chose the top five celebrities with the hairstyles that we'll all be asking for at our next visit to the salon. Isn't it cute how Brad Pitt's ex-wife and current baby mama both made the cut? Pun intended by the way.

Reese Witherspoon: The ever adorable actress tops the list for her long blonde layers and stylishly tapered bangs.

Jennifer Aniston: She also maintains long blonde layers with an A-line shape while the front pieces are slightly jagged.

Eva Longoria: Rather than cut her naturally wavy long hair, she opts for short hairpieces that allow her to experiment and have fun with the look.

Angelina Jolie: The mother of four (soon to be more) has a gently layered, below-the-shoulder style with cascading layers that flow perfectly.

Jessica Simpson: Her long blonde hair has just a few short pieces in the front that curve around her face. Her stylist Ken Paves told the magazine that the look is universally flattering.

American Idol' axes Amanda Overmyer

Amanda Overmyer sang "Back in the U.S.S.R." -- and now, she's going back home.
The 23-year-old nurse from Mulberry, Ind., was voted off "American Idol" Wednesday, leaving 10 hopefuls to vie for the title and record contract.
Overmyer -- a crowd-pleasing performer with streaked hair and a flair for southern rock -- seemed to take her departure from the Fox show in stride.
"It's been a run. ... No. 11 out of all them people is more than I could expect," she told host Ryan Seacrest.
Carly Smithson and Kristy Lee Cook were the other lowest vote-getters.
Cook, a 24-year-old from Selma, Ore., has been a bottom-three fixture in the past weeks and the finalist that judge Simon Cowell picks on the most.
Cowell -- who has called Cook "forgettable" and compared her voice to "Dolly Parton on helium" -- continued his harsh criticism Tuesday after the country singer's take on the Beatles' "You've Got to Hide Your Love Away."
"(You're) like musical wallpaper, insomuch as you notice it, but you can't remember it," he said. "And that's what you're doing week after week: You're making no impact."
Cook talked back to the acid-tongued judge, saying: "I can blow you out of your socks, and you know it."
Wednesday's "Idol" featured a performance by season-five finalist Kellie Pickler.
Seacrest also announced this year's roster of celebrity mentors: Parton, Mariah Carey, Andrew Lloyd Webber and Neil Diamond.

Did the Olsen Twins Agree to Pose For Playboy?

Did the Olsen twins finally agree to pose nude for Playboy? Rumor has it that Hugh Hefner has been desperately trying to convince Ashley and Mary-Kate Olsen to lose their oversized clothing for the pages of his magazine. Hef has allegedly been after them since they turned 18 and hasn't let up yet.
It seems like every time you turn around, another celebrity is being offered to appear in that scandalous publication. With celebrities like Garcelle Beauvais-Nilon and even Kristine from The Apprentice giving in, you never can tell who might be next.
